The Library of Maps
The Bonnafont Gallery, San Francisco, January 31–March 7 2009

Broadsheets (set by Max Koch) of three of Moira Roth’s poems—The Map of the Heart, The Unruly Map of Threads and The Map of Stones—from her 41-part narrative about a fictional Library of Maps, its history and inhabitants. The poems are accompanied by drawings by Slobodan Dan Paich, (from the ongoing exchange of between him and Moira Roth) and photographs by Dennis Letbetter. The exhibition will also include a weaving (directed by Esther Traugot) and a collection of stones from various parts of the world. Throughout the duration of the exhibition, a specially created sound piece, “The Library of Maps, Part 1V,” by Pauline Oliveros will be available on ear phones, and also will be played throughout the gallery at specially dedicated times.
